Are kids allowed?
Children under 12 are allowed at the picnic and promenade at no cost with a ticket-holding parent. Teens are welcome at the ball, but must have their own ticket.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions when purchasing a ticket and we will do our best to provide appropriate options for you.
Do I need prior Regency dance experience?
Not at all! The festival includes a dance workshop so you can practice the dances ahead of time and feel a little more comfortable during the ball. The dance instructor will call out each step and everyone helps each other. It is so much fun! Please note you that you do not have to dress in Regency clothes for the workshop, but you are more than welcome to.
What is a promenade?
"Promenades were a popular social activity during the Regency era (1811–1820), when people would walk in public spaces to see and be seen. Promenades were a way to display fashion, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors." -Google
We will promenade through SUU campus and parts of downtown Cedar City as a celebration of Jane Austen's life and works and to showcase all of our hard work creating Regency outfits. Wear your best day outfit (save the fancy gowns for the ball)!
What should I bring in my picnic lunch?
Popular Regency picnic items might have consisted of savory finger sandwiches, charcuterie style meats and cheeses, small hand pies, sausage rolls and quiches, small cakes and other sweets, pickles, fresh fruits and lemonade or tea to drink.
What is included in afternoon tea?
Afternoon tea will consist of an assortment of finger sandwiches, scones and clotted cream, an assortment of sweet treats such as tarts, fruits and herbal tea.
Should I get a hotel room if I live in St. George?
It's up to you, however we noticed it's easier if you're in town to get ready for the events and have a place to go in between events. However, it's totally up to you if you want to drive back each night. We also have some ideas for photo spots and things to do in Cedar during down times on our Instagram page if you are interested.
